Post Holiday reflections of 2011

So another Christmas has come and gone. my 27th one to be exact and I am very happy to say I've made it this far! Another holiday of good times with friends and family, wonderful gift exchanges, and of course, plenty of people ignoring what this Holiday is truly about and even more trying to make people like me who remember very much so who and what this holiday is all about, ignorant like them. However, christians are cunning, swift, smart, and very creative. We find loop holes in logic. Take for instance, the following photos of very creative christians (i'm assuming). See these people whining about nativity scenes can't complain now, because there is no visual connection to anything religious, yet we all make the connection anyway. Thank you to http://www.oddee.com/ and these wonderfully talented individuals for fighting the good fight!

Coolest creative Nativity Scenes!

And my personal favorite just because it pulls at my dork heart strings:

Horror Corner: Maniac! Review

So the introduction is like alot of other slasher films. We see a random couple who end up in the wrong place at the wrong and then seperate for just enough time for some psycho to come and kill them both. Further in we go and its no longer a slasher film because we now see the "maniac!" What's with the hooker motel room scene? The killer looks pretty strong yet he looks like hes using all of his strength to strangle this chick and yet shes still able to scream loudly. If he was that weak, she could have kicked him in the balls or something, although he is kind of fat. Still that kind of throat throttling would have kept her from making any noise.

So right off we see just how crazy this guy is. Why does he breathe so heavy when hes watching people. It's more like a growl like that shitty version of Bane is the horrific fourth batman film. I do love the music and sound effects used during this decade of horror films. These days we have nothing even close to it. The shotgun death scene was pretty cool. In the end I have to say this isn't the worst horror film out there. It has its moments and jumpy parts if you are looking for a creepy old fashioned scare.

The Elder Scrolls V: GLITCHrim

Oh man, have I complained about this game so much on facebook. But Seriously, such a highly praised game, and at the same time, what a piece of shit. I understand this game isn't compatible with the OS or whatever on the playstation, but then don't release it! I don't care if I would have missed out on such an addicting game. It puts me through hell more often than I have fun playing, and now I am locked in a fierce one on one battle with this pile of garbage thats trying to deny me my second platinum PSN trophy, but I will prevail, oh yes I will. Now, to the point. Let me take you on the journey I have gone through..................

So I begin the game totally new to this series with no clue where to go, or what my map compass at the top of the screen is telling me. At this point all I know is this may not be the most beautifully crafted world but it is pretty damn amazing. Before long I am kicking bandits out of mines, forts, and caverns. Hell I even crossed spiders, bears, wolves, dragons and Vampires. I contracted the disease without knowing what happened. Before long I go into my newly purchased whiterun home to dump loot off. I step backoutside and all of a sudden this lady walking by starts trying to the kill me! What the hell did I do? I sheath my weapons in surrender, but no, the sons of bitches kill me. (thank you auto save). I figure out now that I am a vampire, and naturally people want to kill me. Busting out my trusty Iphone I search the IGN guides on skyrim vampirism. Apparently I have been diseased for days and now I am so far gone people attack me on site. I searched how to cure it, went on quite an adventure, and finally pulled it off. Now I learned my lesson, use the strategy guides on the net! So I decide to start quest lines next.

I finished the college quests, the theives guild, and I begin the Civil War quest. I get through the rebellion pretty far and now I go to this camp and receive orders to attack this fort from the General. Meet some comrades outside of the fort, so I follow to the, now familiar, big white arrow on my map and compass. I arrive to a big empty green hill and about five feet above the ground floats the white arrow way marker. Not a person in site. So I go to the fort. Easy enough, I can take this fort myself. So I bust on through and what happens? A nice message appears on the top of my screen: MISSION FAILED (kill all remaining soldiers 100%) This simply means I did not meet up with my comrades but I can still take the fort. One problem. Remember when I did my early plundering? I must have raided this fort on my journey to see the world. Now the game is glitched saying there are 100% of the enemy in the fort, when the place is empty and quiet. Now for the first time Skyrim has spun me into a new demension of pissed off. I had just let my "7 day" return policy at gamestop pass me by because the game freezing up only happened once in a while, but now this? Oh so you have the balls to call this a "massive open-world" game? I think it needs renamed. "Massive open-world game but you cannot explore unless you do the proper missions" What a bunch of bull shit.

So the days drag on, the game freezes constantly making me want to throw it through a wall. It seems it would freeze right when I was diving in and getting really hooked on my current mission. Bethesda releases their first patch and it makes the game even worse. NO, you can't delete the patch if you have already played and saved your game with it, I tried. Anyway they next put out a memo saying to turn off auto save and what do you know, this actually works. Problem is I have to save every 5 min because I might die, or the game might freeze still. Motherfucking assenine bullshit.

So I push on, my character is strong as hell and I realize that I am gonna get this platinum trophy, I am almost there. Though I glitched the civil war mission, I just decided to start a new game and play a different race and just get that one trophy, and then back to my original game. BIG MISTAKE. This saved over my original. Oh now I am pissed. The strategy guide I bought took the full force of my madness. It's limping now but its a tough little soldier. So now I am stuck with this bogus character I dont care about as much. I am just powering through now to gather the rest of the trophies now (10 side missions) (15 artifacts) and then I am done. I wont touch this nightmarish piece of garbage until its patched over, and then I can do whatever I want since I wont care about failed mission glitches. I might even slaughter every killable NPC in it and declare myself ruler of all, fuck it. I hate this game. I am still addicted to it though. Bullshit.

Final Fantasy IX: I'm ready to accept my platinum now

Just thought I'd talk a little bit about my favorite video game of all time!

My latest save file. The fastest and safest way to level up that I have found is in memoria, the final dungeon. Look for a bridge with a waterfall and a save orb on the bridge. If you back track one area you will encounter this guy, the Chimera:
This guy will pick on whomever lands a blow to him, and he can be very nasty if you are not prepared. He starts with venom breath, which poisons and stops your character, essentially leaving them a sitting duck with slowly draining health, and then he'll freeze you, a temporary status effect which leaves the target vulnerable to any physical attack, shattering (KOing) them. The next attack is what you want, virus crunch. This puts virus on the target. Have three characters infected with this status and move back to the bridge.

I suggest moving forward one screen past the bridge for level 40 to 80 characters. Once past 80 its safer to hang around the save orb. In this next "false" underwater room, you will find two enemies.

Iron Man
Stilva

Iron man will cast protect to lessen the damage your people can inflict, and cast might raising his attack power which can be dangerous as with a high attack power hes also able to use a move called "cleave" hitting everyone. Other than that he shouldn't be much trouble. For Stilvas you want antibody ability equipped because he will venom strike you, and watch for Firaga as his magic is very powerful. These two should be easy to take out in two rounds, and eventually one with three power hitters. Now the virus effect on the three characters will not let them have exp or ap but all the total exp goes to the fourth you left untouched, so you are gaining 42,000 exp a battle, and with the level up ability equipped, even more. Once your party is strong and you want to earn a tiny bit more and be closer to the save point, move back to the bridge you will meet a familiar creature to the FF series, the Behemoth!

Behemoth
This guy packs quite a punch just with his slashes and charges, but what makes him very dangerous is his reaction to physical attacks: Meteor Counter
He will often counter your attacks with the black magic spell meteor which can do lethal damage (4000 - 5000 hp) even to lv 99 characters. Best way to deal with this is to have your attacks with counter and eye4eye abilities equipped. Let him strike one and your characters will counter attack. With high level attackers using mp attack ability and their strongest weapons, the damage should be 8000 to 9999 in damage. You can kill the behemoth with one round (three hits).

Also in the false underwater area past the bridge you may encounter a voice telling you to leave. Obey if you aren't at a high level because this would be Hades, and hes quite tough. Protect yourself from confusion and poison and I find a good group would be two strong attackers, vivi's black magic and a healer to be safe. Equip auto reflect on one character and have vivis unique ability reflectx2 equipped and bounce flare off the reflected character to deal 9999 damage with him.

I suggest every Fan of  turn based rpgs play this game, especially if you enjoy old school Final Fantasy because after the mediocre FF7 and even worse, FF8, 9 returns to the roots of and what made FF great returns once again!

Skyward Sword Review

This new epic entry into the series closely follows behind to the best Zelda game in the series, Ocarina of time, but the motion controls are a big let down when I was looking forward so much to swinging the remote link a sword. Its a pain in some aspects of the game but just power through because in the end, this is one great game and if you are any sort of Zelda fan, you owe it to yourself to play this game. The twilight under a new moon before the eclipse that is breaking dawn

So I've read the novels twice, just about anyhow. I know there are alot of guys that won't bother because of the teen sesation that's infested the novels and films nowadays but I stand by my feelings of these novels. First of all, the vampire and werewolve mythology Stephanie Meyers created is quite original, no, I am not talking about sparkly teen idols. Yes Vampires can walk in the daylight, it gives them away for how different they are, but the sun doesn't hurt them. They are made of stone, literally. They break apart like concrete and only when all pieces are burned are they truly dead. The werewolves are basically a tribe of indians who've crossed paths with the vampires and an ancient magic provided them with a defense against these super beings, a shape shifting power. They don't change uncontrollably under full moons and silver doesn't hurt them no more than anyone else. I am fascinated with the wolve mythology in this series, its the best part in my opinion.

The films are not popular with the harcore fans of the novels. I guess twilight failed to capture the magic the novel did but I still think they did a good job. You take a romance novel, and lets face it, that is what twilight is at the core, and you can't expect alot of guys to show up at the theater for this. They balanced the love aspects with action sequences quite well. When it comes down to it though, the novels are always better and somethings don't make the cut into film.

I think the fans will enjoy the first half of breaking dawn. The first half of the novel has little action to keep you pulled in, but they once again mixed it up a bit with the film. The pacing was done well and kept a two hour film not seeming that long. The dream sequence before the wedding succeeds in chills up your spine. Despite this series not taking a darker path like Harry Potter began in Novel 4, they did well to lure you in and want to see where its going. Of course the story breaks in half right where I and all the fans thought it would. I won't give no spoilers but I think this was the best of the films yet. New Moon being the second best. Get passed all the teen hype and get into just another unique and well written Vampire story. It is quite compelling. Meyers left her story with so many possibilities for more sequels, so this may not be the last of the cullens we read or watch. If you were dissapointed with the previous films I do believe this one will change your mind.

A Pirates life for me, but the Pirates life should end

I've been anticipating this film for a while now. I am a Depp fan and Jack Sparrow is my favorite role he's played yet. Pirate mythology fascinates me and the films were just great fun to watch. On stranger tides fails to capture the magic I felt when the Curse of the black pearl came about. Even Depp doesn't seem to have his heart in this performance. Disney, as big of a company as it is, still felt it had to make cuts. The film did well anyhow and will most likely spawn two more sequels. When you butcher the cast and write mediocre plotlines to continue Jack Sparrows adventures you just lose what you had when you started sadly. This series does not need another sequel in my opinion, as much as I do not want to lose the pirates, they are on a downward spiral now with the fourth installment.

A curious Tale of bad parenting

So Halloween has come and gone once again. Another holiday of parents worrying about their children from things like traffic and creepy people out and about to checking candy for razor blades. Sadly in our world, not all parents care that much. Some are just idiots, and then here are some that make me believe there should be a procreation act forcing some people to undergo the procedures ensuring they cannot have children.

Now the kids look cracks me up, but seriously? What was this idiot thinking

Apparently all the ted bundy costumes were taken this year

The parents of this child obviously have high expectations of their child

Nothing like teaching your daughter to be a whore early on

And again I have no idea what these guy was going for. I hope his kid is terrified of horror films later on, serves him right

Nice example setting

If this ladies kid was shot, serves him right. I can't believe how stupid some people can be

Another example of a mother having high expectations of her daughter's future

I am speechless on this one. Where did the idea come from, and who thought it was a good one in the first place?

Fail of the week 11-1-2011

Well this week was my favorite holiday, Halloween! So I decided to post a hallween fail and found one that is funny and can be helpful. Remember that masks sometimes impair vision, and here is a great example.

Final Fantasy VII to the core

I decided to break down the game that alot of people say is the best Final Fantasy. I obviously disagree strongly and there are several things in this game that annoy me. Here I will break it down to what works for me and what I didn't care for.

Final Fantasy XV: Returning to the good days

Final Fantasy XV: Retro Reasoning by Ryan Clemence

Ryan took the words out of my mouth. I am on board for the next installment in the series returning to it's roots. Of course the fans of FF7 won't be happy about this, but they aren't the heart of FF fans anyhow.

FFXV becoming a digital download would be great. They could make the game longer than any of the others in the series. I'd love to see a new level cap of 200 or something. Trophy galore!

I love the cut scenes and the great story telling the newer games have but with the retro games it was like reading a book and watching a movie I control. I loved that so much and now with the new handhelds I can take the classic FF's anywhere with me and grinding levels kills time quick for me. I really hope whatever is to come a free roaming world map does return. Cruising with your own airship around the world was so much fun. Square Enix, I hope you pay attention to IGN articles!

Fail of the week

We all love the film "Risky Business" and you know what favorite scene we all love to act out. You know what I love more though? When someone attempts it and FAILS.

Memories of summer beaches

Ah don't we all just love the beach? Yes you do admit it. Of course there are some interesting things happening there as well. Lets take a look shall we?

Some business's take some time to get going strong. The Ocean side car wash, not a very good idea

If you've never been terrified at the beach before well here is your chance. I'm not gonna be able to fall asleep now without scaring myself into thinking he's in my closet waiting for his chance...

The happy couple goes to the beach. She's all smiley because he never does anything nice for her and now surprises her with a beach trip. Now we see how he deals with it, happy dreams apparently

This is a classic trick like the hole in the popcorn tub at the theatre. "Ah I think a starfish went in there, get it!"

To be fair to this guy, having that wedged up there like that seems to keep his back's posture very good.

What the hell is that chair made out of? Adamantaim?

Hey guys, it's called high tide for a reason...

New ways to deal with cheating husbands

We've heard of some gruesome stories like Lorena Bobbit and I am sure there are plenty of other accounts like that but there are some creative women out there that seem to have a sense of humor and are not afraid of showing the world what kind of a man they chose to be with. Cheers to you ladies, you crack me up! Us Men are the dumbest of the sexes. Women are so much smarter and they will catch you so why bother attempting a relationship if you are going to want to be with another woman? Well be careful who you mess with.

Because walking in on them and yelling "busted!" is simply not good enough.

What I am hoping for in Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar Games has officially announced the fifth installment in the series. The first trailer debuts on nov 2 2011.

I am excited for this but there are few things I hope they change this time around.

The online game play would be great if it had missions and exp levels like RDR online.

I hope they incorporate targeting help in this as well and also keep expert mode for the shooter vets.

Co-op storyline would be great as well. I'd love to finish my first ever GTA storyline with friends online!

Movie Review: RED STATE

Director Kevin Smith takes his directing in a new direction and I loved it. This film starts you off on the path of a horror movie but swiftly turns to an action packed fire fight between a crazed religious family and the ATF.

Michael Parks was amazing in the role of the church leader, Pastor Abin Cooper. This cast was great all together. Ralph Garman enters the screen and through his actions I get the impression of a modern gun nut version of Thomas Hewitt! (The son in the family doing the dirty work). This film has great suspense and a non stop rollarcoaster ride of action right til the very end.

I reccomend this film to anyone in need of some gunplay action and bloodlust! Its a great reflection on how religion makes some people insane in our world.

Fail of the week

Now parents used to say never to jump on the bed. I guess kids these days aren't taught the same.

Moron of the week

Moron of the week: Drunk Father

Friends don't let friends drive drunk. Fathers don't let daughters drive drunk either but drunk fathers apparently let their 9 year old daughters drive them to the store. Oh, so close at being a responsible drinker. Hey dad, F A I L. I am in support of Obligating certain men of Vascectomies. Ding Ding we have a winner here

My blog post on IGN where I list in order from best to worst in the series. I love these games and have played them all to death! I hear people say 7 is the best but it does not even make it into my top 5.

We should not be on our own

Our country is in bad shape and that's no secret. What are we supposed to do, and how are we to survive this? Now people are protesting wall street. These bankers have ruined us. We need to stop borrowing from them, and let them sink once and for all. I am guilty of it as well so I am not trying to be hypocritical. I had to give up a brand new car I had because the bank refused to help a guy who had to pass on a job because of surgery. How cold blooded do they have to be before we realize they are truly evil? I am in debt, but it doesn't hang over my head. I ignore it. It's not the healthiest thing to do, but I am not the one who refused to help someone out when they asked repeatedly and then took an 18,000$ vehicle and sold it for 4,000$ at an auction. I wonder if they actually thought I was ever going to even attempt to pay them back. Now it's written off but my credit is trashed. I don't care, never did really. Now there's tons of people in debt because of these banks. We are in serious trouble as a country.

I am 27 years old. I was in technical college for a year and I dropped out because Architecture was not what I wanted to do.  A few years later I tried to go back for a different degree since I already had some completed coursework, and my loans were up to date and current. The school stopped accepting my loan company. I was S.O.L. I have tried since getting in but failed. Now here we are today and I was accepted into a program I wanted to do for a better job and future. After 2 years of school and 30,000$ I would end up (if I was lucky) with a job paying 8$/ hr to start. I make more than that now. So is going into more debt for an education I can't use worth it? I don't think so but what do I know. I hear about people everyday graduating with degrees and they end up working retail or something lower.

"You graduate with a degree in communications. You get a job in communications... at the drive thru, of taco bell, on grave yard shift." - Christopher Titus

A good friend of mine mentioned that he believes things are going to revert back to the older days when families lived together on their land no matter how big. I believe this is possible and it's partly the reason why I am moving home. How am I to survive on my own? I have plenty of work experience but that doesn't mean much today. Luckily I have a career started in security. It's not the best pay, but it is an easy job most of the time and crime never seems to dwindle down so there is always work. I think that none of us should be on our own. My family, my friends, I will always do what I can to help them. It gives me peace knowing I am going back to where I belong and I will be able to face whatever challenges come my way because I'll be even stronger then.

"Break the Bank" Written and composed by KH

~verse~
Down on the streets I look up
and all I see are the tyrants around
they hold the power, money and luxury
they just hold us all down

I vow to rip the cigars from their lips
as I hear them growl
No more will I stand for any of this
No way, this is my town

There's starving people out on the streets
that they've chewed and spit out
in their back pockets there's fat wallets
now it's time for us all to shout

~chorus~
Break their banks, break their freedom
take their lives, take their spirits
take our justice, take our rights
and like bandits ride into the night

Dead Island (PS3)

I've played this game thoroughly and I would not recommend this game to anyone. It has problems that are annoying and can even be game breaking. I have posted a detailed review of my own personal experience with this game here: Dead Island Review by Wintermoon138
Agree or disagree? How about the Xbox 360 version. Any of the same problems? I talk only love of the PS3 but I have heard about games like Rage that struggle on the playstation system but works just fine on Xbox.
