Black Mystic Arte Lore

With the release of RPG maker VX-ace I am excited to finally start planning game elements to my planned novels! The JRPG is slowly fading in our country and I guess that's expected since the term means JAPAN Role playing game. But what about those of us that enjoy a good turn based rpg? A game where even difficult, a player can just find a great area to level up to be able to pass the difficulty curve? A game that just tells a great story, but instead of just reading it, you must advance it at your own pace through tough battles a chosen group of heroes can conquer. I miss those games. I would be super excited if namco bandai or square enix came out and announced that the next tales or final fantasy game will go back to retro like the snes days. Sadly, this will never happen. My stories are perfect for the JRPG style, and through gaming I'd love to build the history of Calypsa, my world!

~Black Mystic Artes~
Magic is such a broad term used when people witness something no normal human could do. Magic is just energy. In fact, it's the very energy that allows the planet's life cycle to continue. The Holy Light, the primary element put there by God, is the element at the core that all others combine to form. God broke apart the Light, and out of there came, Darkness, Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Wind, and Earth. The latter six became known as secondary elements. These energies became known as Mystic Energy.

Chosen warriors blessed with the ability to conjure and control the six secondary elements became known as mages, sorcerers, and wizards depending on their knowledge level. The Ancient Wizards formed structured spells as a basic guide for future mages to learn to harness their abilities. Incantations were used to mimic these spells perfectly. Incantations help keep a conjured element stable. Realisticly, a Wizard has the ability to control the six elements however he chooses, but as with any experiment comes the risk of an unstable conjured element. This can be extrordinarily dangerous and has brought villages to their demise in the past.  The schooling of mages began to implement the incantation based spells as a safe method of Black Mystic studies. With this ability each wielder has an internal energy that became known as Mystic Aura. It fuels their ability to manipulate the elements. If the aura is drained, the caster is left with no way of using their gift.

(mind my horrific drawing, I am no artist!)

~Spells~

Mage Level: From birth, these gifted warriors can manipulate the six secondary elements. By age 2 they can begin to conjure them on a smaller scale.

Sorcerer Level: by the age of 10, mages abilities began to grow stronger and if left untamed, begin to become very dangerous

Wizard Level: without regular training, Mages and Sorcerers will never hone their abilities to this level, but most schooled Sorcerers reach this strength by age 15. Though these spells can take their tole on teenagers, draining their Mystic Aura, leaving them defenseless for some time

Incantation :          Structure of the spell
 - Mage Level
Pyro :  calls fourth a concentrated burst of flames
Frost: calls fourth a burst of icy air
Shock: calls fourth a small bolt of lightning
Flood: calls fourth a cascade of water
Gale: calls fourth a an arc of wind
Force: calls fourth a force of gravity

 - Sorcerer Level
Eruption: conjures towers of fire
Celcius: conjures a massive cloud of ice shards
Electrify: conjures arcing lightning
Submerge: conjures surging waters
Vortex: conjures swirling winds
Impact: conjures falling rock

 - Wizard Level
Explosion: summons a deadly force of flames
Avalanche: summons a massive snowstorm
Thunderstorm: summons lightning bolts
Tsunami: summons a tidal wave
Tornado: summons a powerful twister
Earthquake: summons a land crashing quake

(status spells, to add to the RPG element of the game)
Infect: basic poison spell, which slowly drains life
Fracture: breaks the bond between caster and energy, causing mystic artes to fail
Mortal: the curse of death, kills instantly

Meggidan: the ultimate Black Mystic Arte, foretold to cause the end of the world

One of the biggest challenges with the "magic" parts of the story is getting into the novels. I do not want to just rip off J K Rowling, and I do want to write a final fantasy type spell into a story. So while in a video game, the spells get structured like above, in the novel there will be times when the characters use the ability outside of the norm. So by explaining where the spells and incantations came from, it fits and I will have a way to show understanding of how the artes will play out in the novels! It's alot of work but there is nothing more fufilling to me that creating these things! I hope I can take a good creative writing class and begin working on my novels again!
