Skyrim: Final Thoughts

Bethesda knew about PS3 issues before launch

So it's been about four months or so since this game released and it still is not functioning on the playstation3 normally. Several patch attempts have been released to correct these errors but ultimately the game is still running terribly with large save files. I am officially ending my opinions on this game with this final blog on it.

I understand there will always be potential problems with a large game like this designed for PC and ported to a console but after Mr Howard's response about Skyrims PS3 issues, it all sounds like a bunch of bullshit. Bethesda knows that this game is not going to be fixed and now its time to own up to their big mess up. I was not a fan of this series going in, and I do think Skyrim is a great game, when it works anyway. I know that delaying the playstation release would have pissed off alot of playstation fans but they are already pissed off as it is now. Bethesda, you fucked up, end of story. You should have tested this game completely. You should have had at least two or three people on each console playing, exploring the map to 100% and completeing all the missions to see how the save files would hold up with such a large amount of information stored, but in the end, you were lazy and didn't care. I know people will still run out to the stores like their ass is catching fire to grab Elder Scrolls VI, if it ever comes, but I will not be one of them. This was inexcusable in my opinion. You make take credit for a great looking and fun playing game, but in the end, when it has problems running, shame on you.

In the words of Colin Moriarity, "Don't make excuses, make video games." If you can't port such a large game properly, then don't do it. Or maybe seperate the maps like Kingdoms of Amalur. Reckoning has a large map, but it's divided more than skyrim. It doesn't look as beautiful as skyrim does, but the fucking game plays. I've been involved with Amalur for two weeks now and I haven't even noticed the game even studder. I load Skyrim and if I play for more than two hours without lag or a slight freeze in the game, it'd be a fucking miracle. So PC, XBOX, fans can defend Bethesda all you want. What it comes down to in the end is if the game works great, and it does not. You don't see vehicle manufacturers selling poor running vehicles do you? Get your shit together.

  1. Going to disagree on the car companies not making shitty running cars. Vw and others have engines that fail after 10k miles. I love skyrim, as you know, and I agree they should have found away to fix these problems. They've known about it since fallout 3 goty on ps3. Anyway KOA: Reckoning just doesn't play like something I would enjoy. At least not the demo anyway. I'm not knocking it, please don't think I am. I just thought the combat was meh. I'll still play it eventually.

  2. haha I understand Pal, and as much as I am whining about skyrim, I can't put the game down! Maybe if it was not such a great game, the fact that it doesn't run well wouldn't bother me. I am playing both amalur and skyrim once again, at the same time, they are similair, but very different at the same time
